Meet the Beewisers: Davide – Portfolio Manager

Welcome to another one of our Meet the Beewisers articles. Our next team member that will be highlighted is Davide Pascali. He has been a vital part of the Beewise team since day one, being responsible for managing the thematic funds on the Beewise mobile app.

About Davide

Davide was born and raised in the beautiful town Lecce, situated in the south of Italy. After finishing high school, he moved to Siena for his Bachelor and Master studies in Finance. During his studies he had the opportunity to study abroad for an Erasmus exchange program in Durham, UK. “Here I started to understand the true power of machine-learning and how it had the possibility to reshape the financial industry.” To finish his studies, Davide wrote a dissertation in collaboration with Banca Monte dei Paschi di Siena, where he ended up working for 6 months. He then moved to Milan where his new adventure at Azimut started.

Working at Azimut

About 4.5 years ago Davide started working at Azimut Analytics, a start-up under the Azimut Group. He thought it was fascinating how they used machine-learning to address real-world problems, especially because that was not very common yet in the industry in Italy at that time. During two years he continued to work for the start-up in Milan, up until he eventually joined Azimut Investments in Luxembourg. Reflecting back on those 2 years, Davide told us that it had been a very educational experience, in which he improved his coding and financial skills greatly. He got the chance to fully immerse himself into a number of great projects.

Becoming Part of the Beewise Team

Something you should know about Davide is that he is a hopeless optimistic dreamer. You might think this is not the best match, but on some occasions it can be the perfect match. When the timing is right and the project has potential, Davide will work as hard as he can to make good things happen. An example of this is the Beewise project.

As Davide has made it his aspiration to bring projects that disrupt and democratize financial services to life, Beewise was the perfect next challenge for him to take on. The possibility to create a simple-to-use investing app out of an originally very complex matter, while paving the road to a sustainable future was something he had only dreamed of doing during his studies.

Once Davide became part of the Beewise team, he started managing the thematic funds offered on the Beewise app, together with the help of the Azimut Global Team.

Passions Outside of Work

One of Davide’s passions outside of work is cycling. Davide owns two bikes with a third one coming soon, just to give you an idea of how passionate he is! Another of his personal passions is traveling. He loves exploring new countries, meeting new people and being inspired by different realities, as it challenges his always changing equilibrium and beliefs. He also particularly enjoys reading, cooking, and listening to music (he is a vinyl enthusiast). As the French would say, Davide is a true bon vivant, always trying to enjoy life to the fullest. Through the Beewise app, he wanted to give people the same opportunity to live life as they truly want by breaking down their financial limits through investing.
